1. Are there any “hidden” costs besides the membership fee and what is not covered by it?
No “hidden” charges – Your membership fee INCLUDES all your webhosting fees; complete instruction services (mentoring) and full access to all of our resources and services. The only necessary cost not covered by your membership fee is the purchase of your own domain name (.com; .org; .net; etc.). We will even assist you with a domain name purchase ($10 - $15) through one of our affiliates.
2. What are the “PREMIUM” features that you now have available?
In order to be of better service to our members (and at their request) we have added the 3 new optional services for those who wish to subscribe to them.
Our “FastTrack” Program is designed to help those who want to get their new website up and running in a hurry. For a ONE TIME ADDITIONAL FEE of $200, we will create the initial website for you. However, you must supply us with the content (wording) AND any multimedia (pictures, movies, audio, PDFs, Flash presentations, etc,) that you want on the site. After the site is completed, we will teach you to maintain your site yourself; just like other VRN members do.
Our Website Insurance package is designed to protect you from the malicious attacks of hackers and internet worms that are so prevalent today. For an additional ANNUAL FEE of $100 we do a complete monthly BACKUP of your website. In the unfortunate event that your website is ever attacked; we will restore your site so that you hard work is not lost or destroyed.
After many requests, we have also started a Website Maintenance Service for those who either do not have the time or inclination to maintain or work on their site themselves. This is a “per hour” fee. However, we are currently charging about ½ of what commercial sites charge for this service.
3. Do you ONLY do sites for Christian ministries?
NO - While our focus is to help those who are in ministry, we have had several pastors, and ministers who also own businesses that have asked to take advantage of our services. These are taken on a case by case basis. If you are interested in our help for your business, then please contact us for more info.
4. Why do all of the memberships come due on January 1st – even those who joined in the “middle” of the year?
We have made every attempt to keep our operating costs as low as possible. By having all of the membership fees due at the same time, saves a lot of bookkeeping time and allows us to do what we really want to do – help those in ministry with their technology challenges!
5. I am a member of VRN but my site is not listed in the “lists” of sites. Why not?
We update the lists about every 6 months or so. This is a Flash presentation and takes some time to build. We look at the sites that are "ready" to be shown, and use them. We do not use any business sites, only those of Christian Ministries.
6. How long does it take to get my site up and running once I join VRN?
That is up to you. We generally have the “framework” up and running in a couple of hours. Then you have to place within the blank pages any text or multimedia that you want displayed.
7. Is there anything I should do in “preparation” before getting my site?
Yes - you need to begin to acquire the information you want people to see. Scan pictures, write a biography, gather contact information, references and so forth. Any message that you want conveyed to those who visit your site needs to be scanned, typed and ready to put on the web.
8. Can I delegate a volunteer to take the training and manage my site for me?
We STRONGLY urge that the WEB SITE OWNER be the one who receives the training to edit their site. To view our policy for training delegates click here.
9 - How will I get help with my site when I need it?
When you become a member we do several things.
First, you are assigned a user name and password so that you can access the Member's Area of our site. There you will find many online videos that will teach you the basics of how to navigate and edit your site.
We also make sure that you get set up with Skype. Skype is a free service that allows us to see and talk to each other via our computers.
Usually we are available for online help at the following times:
